Cristina’s house-made Guatemalan tamales using her Abuela Stella’s recipe and locally-sourced ingredients. The tamales are made lovingly by our team, vacuum sealed for freshness, and easy re-heating, and available in packages of two and come with hot sauce, lime, and cabbage curtido.
Tamales are gluten free and dairy free.
Chicken Tamal Ingredients: corn flour, rice flour, lard, chicken from Return to the Earth Farm, tomatoes from Vicki’s Veggies, pepita, sesame seed, chillies, olive, red pepper, prune
HEATING INSTRUCTIONS
Note: use caution when handling hot tamales! Use scissors to cut the twine, and carefully unwrap your tamal. The steam emanating from a hot tamal can cause minor burns, so please be careful!
Please defrost your package overnight, or throughout the day for best results. The tamales come in a vacuum sealed bag that is generally used to sous-vide food, and is food-safe.
MICROWAVE leaving the plantain leaf on, cover and zap for two minutes per tamal.
STOVETOP
in vacuum sealed bag: using a medium-sized pot, half-submerge your un-opened bag of tamales in water, and boil for 20 minutes.
without the bag:using a vegetable steamer, steam the tamales in their banana leaf for 20 minutes.
